I'm Off to See the Wizard But I Wore the Wrong Shoes!

Didn't go to work today before my appointment. Decided I needed to try and get myself together and figure out what I really wanted to find out at my appointment today. I wasn't sure what to expect but I didn't want to waste the opportunity of speaking to Dr. Cheson. We had to be down there at 11:30 for a noon appointment. It is a very nice hospital, almost like TV Hospitals. Anyway, I didn't see anyone until after 2:00. By the time I actually talked to the doctor I was so sleepy, I'm glad Marcel was there with his list of questions. Basically what I think he said was that if they can confirm the diagnosis of Dr. Resta he will agree that it will not be necessary to start treatments right away and possibly not for years. He is requiring that I get further tests before diagnosis and that is a bone marrow biopsy and possible another larger biopsy of a lymph node. This can give them a definitive answer which will make it much easier for them to know how and when to treat. A new CT scan in March will give them some idea of how active and how quickly changes in my situation are happening. Dr. Cheson is a cool guy and his Physicians Assistant is awesome. They both speak very plainly and directly with no BS and explained a lot to us. Most of our questions were answered before we even got to our questions. Marcel seem to like this set up a little better. I agree it is probably the place to go but it is a real time consumer compared to going to Reston, and a little out of my comfort zone. Looks like it is still a lot of "wait and see".

When do you have to have the bone marrow test? Sounds painful! :(
